The Arts Educational Schools London, part of the Andrew Lloyd Webber Foundation, last night staged EVITA, in the presence of Andrew Lloyd Webber himself, as part of the opening of their theatre. Webber is the school's most generous patron, funding the school's £3.5 million refurbishment and is president of the school.
Webber said that Mollie Melia-Redgrave was "simply the best Eva Perón" he'd ever heard, and praised the entire production for a wonderful rendition of the story.
The theatre's launch performance of EVITA, composed by Andrew Lloyd Webber with lyrics by Tim Rice, is directed and choreographed by Joey McKneely. The music director is Tom Deering, the designer, Simon Kenny; the lighting designer Howard Hudson and sound designer Ross Portway. The roles of Eva, Perón and Che are performed by ArtsEd's third year musical theatre students Mollie Melia-Redgrave, Daniel Donskoy and Olly Dobson.
