Jay Gatsby is the man who has everything. But one thing will always be out of his reach... Beneath the shimmering surface of his life he is hiding a secret: a silent longing that can never be fulfilled. And soon this destructive obsession will force his world to unravel.

Produced by the critically acclaimed Ruby In The Dust, The Great Gatsby Musical, which gets its world premiere at the King’s Head?Theatre, Islington, from Tuesday 7 August - Saturday 1 September, remains true to their ethos of exploring dark, intricate relationships through merging new writing with the original concept.

Set in the sizzling heat of a 1920s New York summer, The Great Gatsby Musical, conceived and developed in 2011, is a guest production in the King’s Head Theatre’s summer season 2012.

It is directed by Young Vic Genesis director, Linnie Reedman. A classically trained actress, Reedman has performed nationally in an eclectic range of theatre, and has worked alongside directors such as Alan Rickman (The Winter’s Guest) and Tim Supple (Spring Awakening). Her previous directing credits include Miracle, starring Susannah York and Tim Woodward (set in a crypt), Dorian Gray (Cafe Royal), Romeo and Juliet (Leicester Square Theatre) and Maupassant’s Bel Ami. Most rrecently, she will direct Song of the Seagull, a site specific piece in the Menier Gallery.

The performance will be accompanied by original music by award-winning composer Joe Evans and is performed live, forming an integral part of the script.

Discover the glitzy world of speakeasys, glamour and jazz in this brand new musical. The ‘Roaring Twenties’:the Charleston, American tango, waltz, ragtime. For more information, visit www.kingsheadtheatre.com.
