Following from the success of A Tale Of Two Cities and The Body Of An American, Royal & Derngate's Made In Northampton 2014 season continues with the world premiere of Every Last Trick, a bold new adaptation by Tamsin Oglesby of a classic Feydeau farce. Directed by Paul Hunter, this ingenious look at the game of infidelity and marriage takes to Northampton's Royal stage from Friday 18 April to Saturday 10 May, uniting the comic talents of members of leading theatre companies Spymonkey and Told By An Idiot. Check out a first look below!
The Designer is Lucy Bradridge, whose previous work at Royal & Derngate includes last year's 50th anniversary production Alan Ayckbourn's Mr Whatnot, as well as the Spymonkey co-production Oedipussy. The production also re-unites regular Told By An Idiot collaborators, Lighting Designer Philip Gladwell, whose work was last seen in Northampton in the Festival Of Chaos trilogy, The Bacchae, Blood Wedding and Hedda Gabler, and previously The Duchess Of Malfi, and, fresh from A Tale Of Two Cities and The Body Of An American, Sound Designer Adrienne Quartly whose other work includes Fraulein Julie at the Barbican.
The cast features masters of clowning Toby Park and Aitor Basouri, joint Artistic Directors of Spymonkey, who have been seen recently in Cooped and Oedipussy. They are joined by Sophie Russell, who has worked extensively for the RSC, as well as appearing in a number of Told By An Idiot productions, including You Can't Take it With You at Manchester Royal Exchange and Get Happy at the Barbican.
Every Last Trick can be seen at Royal & Derngate, Northampton from Friday 18 April to Saturday 10 May, with evening performances at 7.45pm (7pm on Tuesday 22 April) and matinees most Thursdays and Saturdays at 2.30pm.
