Kirsty Housley directs a deliciously gruesome selection from Philip Pullman's Grimm Tales, in this acclaimed adaptation by Philip Wilson, re-told and re-worked for the whole family.
Enter a perilous world of murderous step-mothers, careless parents and fearless children. Philip Pullman's Grimm Tales are classic fairy tales, distilled from centuries of storytelling, timeworn but honed for the next generation to discover anew. This collection of stories, some familiar and some not so, takes us to the very heart of imagination and speaks of the things it finds there, fear, courage, compassion and wonder.
Housley creates a rich and potent world alive with the strange and the familiar in this wickedly gleeful new show, carved from these much loved stories which have enchanted children and adults alike for generations. Kirsty Housley is an award-winning theatre maker whose credits include Misty (Bush and Trafalgar Studios), Myth (RSC), The Believers are But Brothers (Bush), A Pacifist's Guide to the War on Cancer (National Theatre) and The Encounter (Complicite).
