Look Back in Anger "rocked theatre and society in the summer of 1956, and blasted open the doors for a generation of angry young men"; Benedict Cumberbatch, Rebecca Hall, Anna Maxwell Martin, Matt Ryan and Julian Wadham led a reading of the play for the Royal Court's Playwright's Playwrights season on July 6. Look Back in Anger premiered in 1956 at The Royal Court Theatre in London. In 1957, the play opened on Broadway and was nominated for a Tony Award for Best Play.
