Following its 49-year success in New York, Rose Bridge Theatre Company are proud to present its rich, comedic production of Harvey Schmidt and Tom Jones' magical musical romanceTHE FANTASTICKS at Jermyn Street Theatre this July. Music by Harvey Schmidt and book and lyrics by Tom Jones.
THE FANTASTICKS, based on Edmond Rostand's story Les Romanesques, tells the tale of two neighbours, Hucklebee and Bellomy, who plot to make their children fall in love by building a wall between their houses. With the help of the mysterious El Gallo, their fate unravels in comical chaos quite out of their hands.
Directed by Neil Robinson (Polish National Opera's The Marriage Of Figaro and Oper Frankfurt's The Tempest) and musically directed by Simon Burrow (the Gershwins' Crazy For You, and the London Fringe premiere of Avenue Q, both at Upstairs At The Gatehouse), THE FANTASTICKS will charm audiences with its whimsical tale and beautiful score that evokes Sondheim, Rodgers and Bernstein. Rose Bridge Theatre's Artistic Director Adam Morris says London audiences "will enjoy our naturalistic interpretation, rich in narrative and comedy, just as New York audiences continue to enjoy the off-Broadway production nearly 50 years on."
The 8-strong cast features Tim Walton (Matilda, Love Never Dies, Mamma Mia! and Wicked) as Hucklebee, Gavin James ('LES MISERABLES', West End) as El Gallo, and Brian McCann (Phantom Of The Opera, West End) as Bellomy.
