LONDON CAST OF MAMMA MIA! CELEBRATE 40TH ANNIVERSARY OF ABBA SINGLE RELEASE WITH; THANK YOU FOR THE OTHER MUSIC - A CABARET IN AID OF THE MAKE A DIFFERENCE TRUST
This Thursday (24 September), the London cast of MAMMA MIA!, accompanied by a four-piece band, will celebrate the music of Agnetha Fältskog, Björn Ulvaeus, Benny Andersson and Anni-Frid Lyngstad, better known as ABBA, in a one-off cabaret in the Delfont Room at the Prince of Wales Theatre, in aid of The Make A Difference Trust.
Whilst the cast wont be singing the songs they usually do at the Novello Theatre, the evening will be packed full of some of the perhaps lesser known (but equally brilliant) ABBA hits, as well as a selection of songs from Benny Andersson & Bjorn Ulvaeus' musical projects (Chess, Kristina) and band members' other solo work.
Jamie Scott-Smith went into rehearsal to take these snaps!
The cabaret co-incides with the 40th anniversary of the single release of 'Mamma Mia', the hit ABBA song that paved the way for one of the most successful stage productions of all time. The song is the opening track on the group's third album, the self-titled ABBA. The event will also mark the 39th anniversary of the release of 'Dancing Queen', another of ABBA's classic hits.
Members of the London company of MAMMA MIA!, including leading ladies Dianne Pilkington and Gabriella Williams, will perform a total of 18 songs during the 90-minute performance. The cast will be accompanied by a four-piece band (including two members of the original MAMMA MIA! band) under the musical direction of Marcus Savage.
The global smash hit musical MAMMA MIA! at London's Novello Theatre is currently booking until 23 April 2016, taking the show through to its 18th playing year in London.
