With just under a week to go, New Wimbledon Theatre is gearing up for banging some coconuts together and welcoming the Monty Python musical SPAMALOT to its stage as it launches its brand new UK tour from this weekend.
Theatre staff were given an exclusive invitation to attend rehearsals at Jerwood Space last week and saw the show's stars Marcus Brigstocke, Jodie Prenger and Todd Carty busy at work going through their hilarious scenes, practising their Python impersonations and sending up Musical Theatre in spectacular fashion.
Even more exciting was the presence of original Python star and Spamalot co-creator Eric Idle who ensured Marcus, Jodie, Todd and the rest of the cast were all working to his very high and very funny standards.
Eric commented: "I flew in from LA to see the cast in rehearsals this week - they're a very funny (and inexpensive) bunch of people and it's been great fun seeing them prepare for a whole new production of Spamalot. It's great to see new actors in a new production of the show - for an old fart like me, it's really a joy."
Don't miss SPAMALOT at New Wimbledon Theatre from Saturday 29 May. For tickets call 0844 8717 646 or visit www.ambassadortickets.com/wimbledon.
