Earlier this week (Monday 10 March), Andrew Lloyd Webber visited the Nissay Theatre in Tokyo, Japan for the Japanese premiere of Love Never Dies. He was joined by the cast, led by Masachika Ichimura as the Phantom and Ayaka Hirahira as Christine, on stage at the curtain call. The roles of The Phantom and Christine will be alternated throughout the show's run with Takeshi Kaga and Megumi Hamada respectively.
Love Never Dies received its world premiere in the West End in 2010. Subsequently it has been produced in Melbourne, Sydney and Copenhagen, as well as Tokyo. Directed by Simon Phillips, Love Never Dies has a score by Andrew Lloyd Webber and lyrics by Glenn Slater. Book is by Lloyd Webber, Ben Elton, Glenn Slater and Frederick Forsyth. The show is produced in Japan by HoriPro.
