The 2006 London Evening Standard Awards took place on November 27th at the Savoy Hotel.
Sponsored by the Evening Standard newspaper and hosted by Lady Rothermere, it included such guests as Tim Curry, Alan Cumming, and Jeremy Irons.
Tom Stoppard's Rock 'N' Roll, which played The Royal Court Theatre prior to its current run at the Duke of York's, won the Evening Standard for Best Play, while its star Rufus Sewell/> won Best Actor. Tony Kushner/> and Jeanine Tesori's Caroline, or Change, presented by The National Theatre, was awarded Best Musical. Peter Morgan's Frost/Nixon, which is presented by the Donmar Warehouse and is currently playing the Gielgud Theatre, received the Editor's Award. Tony-nominee Kathleen Turner/>, who starred as Martha in the transfer of the Broadway revival of Who's Afraid of Virginia Woolf? at the Apollo Theatre, was named Best Actress.Visit this link for the complete list of Evening Standard Award winners.
