Peter Duncan Joins Ellen Greene in West End's BETWIXT!, Opens July

Olivier Award-nominated Peter Duncan is joining Broadway star Ellen Greene in the West End production of the new British musical comedy Betwixt!, which is getting a season at Trafalgar Studios 2 from Tuesday 26th July to Saturday 20th August.

And just like Ellen Greene, he will play 3 roles in the production; a deluded and egocentric maniac, The Great Garbo, who is selfish, vain, and always star of the show; Prince Haydn, a trashy royal who knocks up a foreign princess; and his 'real world' counterpart, washed up TV Soap star, Haydn Prince.

After his daredevil antics as a Blue Peter presenter in the 1980s, Peter Duncan appeared in musical theatre starring as Barnum in Barnum, Bill Snibson in Me and my Girl and as Charlie Chaplin in The Little Tramp. In 1995 he was nominated for an Olivier award as Best Actor in a musical for the lead role of Denry Machin in The Card at Regent's Park Theatre.

Recently he toured in Alan Ayckbourn‘s Things We Do for Love, played the twins in Corpse and appeared as Stan Laurel in a production of Laurel and Hardy. He recently took the roles of Macduff in Macbeth and Fantastic Mr Fox at the Open Air Theatre in Regent's Park and took his one man show to the Edinburgh festival.

He is a well-known face on TV where his work as an actor and presenter has included The Childhood Friend, Sons and Lovers, Renoir My Father, Warship, Fathers and Families, Sam, Fallen Hero, Survivors, King Cinder, Oranges and Lemons, The Flockton Flyer, Space 1999 and The Big Race. His feature film credits include Stardust, Quilp, and a famous cameo in Flash Gordon. Duncan has had a long association with pantomime, following in his parent's footsteps, and has played many roles including Buttons, Peter Pan and Captain Hook. Through his own production company he has staged: The Gingerbread Man, Erik The Viking, Robin Hood, Cinderella and Aladdin. This Christmas he is writing and directing Mother Goose at Oxford Playhouse as well as playing King Rat in Exeter.

In modern day New York, writer Bailey - suffering writer's block - and his roommate Cooper Fitzgerald are catapulted head first into a strange enchanted world. Their arrival fulfils a prophecy that tells of a brave hero and a great queen and they are tasked with searching out a fading daytime TV star who is the only hope for saving a pregnant princess from losing the throne... Sex-crazed nymphs, hunchbacks, cross-dressing mutes, dancing reporters, enchantresses (of the evil-world-dominating variety) and a disembodied head with a Bavarian accent are teamed with sitcom-styled dialogue and a toe-tapping score in a truly funny musical comedy.
