Prelude is a cabaret event showcasing fresh new musical theatre writing and emerging talent. After a sold out performance at Above The Arts, Prelude is back for one night only at Tristan Bates Theatre on Monday 18 June. Brought to you by a team of Mountview graduates and collaborators, the evening will present songs from a number of new shows currently in development. Featured musicals include Triangularity, Liz, Much Ado About Hero, Brothers, Audrey and Forgive Us, Oh Father.

The event is back with a fresh line up, featuring brand new material as well as hit songs from the first edition of Prelude. It will showcase musicals created by Flora Leo, Harry Style, Amy Le Rossignol, Lexi Clare, Thomas Ryalls and Arnoud Breitbarth. Prelude features performances from a host of emerging talent including Marc Mackinnon (Metropolis) and Charlotte Forster (In Versions). Join us for a joyous evening celebrating new writing, memorable melodies and bright young talent.

The event is being held as a fundraiser to facilitate the next instalment of Maiden Speech, a festival launched in 2017 that successfully staged nine new plays by female-identifying artists to critical acclaim.

It is produced by Lexi Clare Productions, a fresh new Production Company with a focus on providing platforms for emerging artists and fresh perspectives.

Prelude will be preceded by a series of live-streamed interviews that take place throughout the afternoon on Monday 18 June and shine a spotlight on the work of emerging creatives in the industry. The interview series will broadcast through Maiden Speech social media channels and will feature a variety of guests including stage managers, composers, directors and producers.
