Overtures, London's Answer To Marie's Crisis Cafe, Opens January Image

After the phenomenal success of the Marie's Crisis London pop-up, during Halloween 2018, and under a new permanent name; OVERTURES PIANO BAR, London, will open its doors; as as answer to the famed New York Bar, and featuring regular guest appearances from Marie's Crisis Cafe.

OVERTURES PIANO BAR will open its doors in the refurbished basement bar of the City of Quebec pub, London's oldest LGBTQ public house on January 2nd; where it will take permanent residence for the discerning show-tune aficionados and general public alike.

OVERTURES PIANO BAR will welcome the return of Kenney M Greene and Adam Michael Tilford for its opening fortnight; the two performing pianists from Marie's Crisis Cafe, New York, who wowed a London crowd for six hours a night last Halloween week.

This evening is unplugged and spontaneous - it's just the crowd, the piano, the pianist and the showtunes. There's no set list, no stage, no microphone and definitely no shooshing. Everyone's welcome to sing their heart out - or just stand and enjoy the musical mavens who know all the lyrics. It's riotous and rambunctious and welcomes all ages, all sexual orientations, all backgrounds and all singing levels.

Whether you sip cocktails, savour wine, or simply neck a beer; everyone is invited to enjoy the uplifting, magical feeling of being in the heart of Broadway and the West End, fifty yards from Marble Arch.

This communal sing along night features songs from musicals ranging from popular classics, such as Les Mis, Wicked, My Fair Lady, The Sound of Music and Grease, to the cult showtunes from the musicals of Stephen Sondheim - and everything in between.

Overtures Piano Bar, London is brought to you by Ray Rackham Theatrical. Rackham said:

"We never anticipated the hunger of the general public of London, in needing a place to sing out loud until the wee small hours, nor the phenomenal success of the Marie's Crisis London pop-up. Each night of our initial trial in Halloween had over double the capacity show up to sing; and we were literally turning people away or asking them to queue to get in. London welcomed this very New York institution with open arms, and I am delighted the pub and its clientele have entrusted my team to establish a singalong presence permanently in the heart of London; under its new permanent name OVERTURES.

OVERTURES will feature guest appearances regularly from the famed pianists and singing bar tenders of its New York inspiration; and will showcase homegrown talent in one, big, show-tune singing family.

I cannot wait for Kenney and Adam to arrive as our first guest artistes from across the pond. Over the years I have got to know and love so many of New York's finest pianists and hosts; I'm delighted to be welcoming them to London."

OVERTURES PIANO BAR, London, opens on 2nd January, with an alternative New Years Eve celebration. The bar will operate Wednesday through Saturday, each week, from 8:30pm until at least 2am. Its first week is already almost booked out (although, as in New York, patrons are invited to come along and queue for a short while to be admitted).
