Manchester's ‘emerging talent' production company Organised Chaos will be presenting two plays at Buxton this season which both won critical acclaim at their premieres this spring. Underground Venues will host ‘The Benefit of Time' and ‘Afternoon Tea', two of the plays which were selected from the company's first call for new scripts.

Described by Manchester Confidential as ‘Entertaining .. unpredictable .. funny .. engaging..' The Benefit of Time' is written by Terri-Ann Brumby whose previous works have been broadcast by the BBC and short-listed for theatre awards. Debbie Green is a plain lady, working in Human Resources. Donald Cruickshank is her celebrity-seeking hypnotherapist. Can Debbie's colourful "previous life" reshape her mundane existence? "You are currently in a dormant life, which means you are a very old soul that has had many traumatic or extraordinary existences. That's why you're boring."
A triumph over adversity story, with past life regression, royalty, personnel procedure, cunning, crime, birth, death and filth! - Don't be a loser, be a Tudor!
‘Afternoon Tea' is the first play to be staged for writer Lindsay Kernahan, who recently graduated from Chester University with an MA in Creative Writing. At it's premiere in April UK Theatre.net wrote that it ‘really tweaked the audience's funnybone', and a number of reviews described it as ‘very funny' and ‘well written'.

What can possibly go wrong over Afternoon Tea? All is peace and tranquillity as two couples coincide in the Tea Room. Enjoying a "saucy" weekend away, it is slowly emerging that Abigail's expectation of wedding bells is as far away from William's ‘alternative' intentions as possible. Meanwhile Jean and Poppy are indulging in their favourite occupation of gossiping, a little about themselves, but more enticingly about almost anyone else, with a hearty moan about life thrown in - you can be sure the world will be put to rights by the time their tea is finished. But while they dunk their Rich Teas something sinister is happening in one of their homes, and Jean is about to find out who's been watching her - and it isn't the cat......

Organised Chaos Productions, headed by Gayle Hare, Kirsty Fox and Mark Creamer, have extensive experience in production, with credits in both film and theatre. Between them they have produced, managed, directed or performed at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival, the National Student Drama Festival, The Lowry, Studio Salford and the 24/7 festival and, of course, at Buxton. This will, however, be their first visit to Buxton together as Organised Chaos.
