The National Theatre's production of The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-Time has been nominated for eight Olivier Awards - more than any other production this year.
Marianne Elliott, the director of the show, told BWW:UK this afternoon:
"I'm absolutely thrilled to have so many Olivier nominations for our show, The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-Time. What started out as an 'experimental' exploration of Mark Haddon's wonderful novel, turned into a very fulfilling and creative experience for all of us. We were all working outside our 'comfort zones' and collaborating very closely together. It was a huge team effort and therefore makes us all doubly proud to be a part of something that became so much a part of, but so much bigger than, any one of us."
The highly acclaimed production, adapted by Simon Stephens and directed by Marianne Elliott, is now playing at the Apollo Theatre in the West End.
It had been acclaimed by critics and audiences alike during its sell-out run in the Cottesloe Theatre and set a new record with its NT Live broadcast to worldwide cinemas, seen by over 40,000 people in the UK alone.
Luke Treadaway recreates his 'astonishing' (Time Out) performance as Christopher Boone. He will be joined by Matthew Barker, Niamh Cusack, Sophie Duval, Rhiannon Harper-Rafferty, Nick Sidi and Howard Ward, who were also in the original cast.
Johnny Gibbon plays Christopher on Mondays and Tuesdays. Luke Treadaway plays Christopher on Wednesdays, Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays.
