The producers of the hit musical La Cage Aux Folles announced today that the show's original Albin, Douglas Hodge, will return this Christmas for a strictly limited five week season from November 30th 2009 at The Playhouse Theatre.
As the production, which originated at the Menier Chocolate Factory, celebrates its first birthday in The Playhouse Theatre, Hodge will reprise his Olivier Award winning performance, prior to a planned transfer to Broadway. He will be joined on stage by Denis Lawson as Georges who played alongside him when the show opened in the West End in October last year and was nominated for his performance for an Olivier Award.
The production is presented by Chocolate Factory Productions, Sonia Friedman Productions, David Ian Productions, Tulchin/Bartner, The Ambassador Theatre Group, Jamie Hendry, Matthew Mitchell and David Mirvish.
The production will be directed by Terry Johnson with choreography by Lynne Page, set design by Tim Shortall, costume design by Matthew Wright, lighting design by Nick Richings, sound design by Gareth Owen, wigs and make-up design by Richard Mawbey, musical supervision and orchestrations by Jason Carr and musical direction by Michael Haslam.
