Olivier Award-Winning KING CHARLES III to Make Broadway Transfer This Fall?

Mike Bartlett's critically acclaimed new play, King Charles III directed by Rupert Goold, is currently playing in the West End at the Wyndham's Theatre, and according to the New York Times, the show might soon travel across the pond. Producers Stuart Thompson and Sonia Friedman are looking to bring the play to Broadway in Fall 2015. Tim Pigott-Smith, who plays the title role in London is expected to reprise his performance.

In light of its Best New Play win at Sunday's Olivier Awards, King Charles III's New York publicist says that the producers will be making their official announcement on Monday, so make sure to check back with BroadwayWorld for the news!

King Charles III has received glowing reviews from critics and audiences since opening at the Almeida Theatre in April and transferring to the West End. The play has been seen by over 90,000 people and recouped its full production costs at the Wyndham's in eight weeks.

Directed by the Almeida Theatre's Artistic Director Rupert Goold, King Charles III is designed by Tom Scutt, music composed by Jocelyn Pook, with lighting by Jon Clark and sound by Paul Arditti.
