Busy, busy, busy....this week we got to the end of the piece! This enabled us to have our very first run through on Saturday morning....which, not wanting to sound too biased, so far looks terrific! I can only imagine from watching that our Joe Casey (the lovely Alexis Gerred) will be turning the art of quick costume changes into an Olympic Event! (Look out Rio 2016!)
Speaking of which, week 3, among other things, introduced the cast to their costumes as we had our initial fittings. Team wardrobe have been busy bunnies as they produced a mountain of outfits varying from normal attire to the utterly outrageous! (Which could have been no 'Simple Equation' - tenuous....sorry!) All I will say is - wait til we get to Vegas!
The 'patience of a saint' award this week goes to Fran (choreographer) as she embarked on the journey of teaching us the 'Umbrella' routine! Never would I have thought that dancing with a retractable prop would prove so testing.....but it is! However, I think that we got there in the end and even managed to put in a cheeky bit of tap!
There was plenty of comedy this week starting with glorious Daniella Bowen totally relocating the piece as she gave a beautiful rendition of 'SW5'! ('NW5' to anyone else!) Her day worsened slightly when her 'One D' lunch box was accidentally massacred by our drummer Adam Langstaff. (Needless to say, she got her own back!) The boys of the company embarked on a game of 5-a-side football on Tuesday evening, and now, feeling uber-confident, have challenged the cast of 'Save the Last Dance' for match No 2. (COME ON 'OURHOUSEUKTOUR FC'!) And to put an end to the week's festivities we all piled into the Taj Mahal for a company curry.
Next week we move to the theatre to spread some 'Madness' joy over at the Wolsey. With the set already looking fabulous there's only one thing we can do....get on it!
Well, I'm off to find Dani a new lunch box... until next time...
