Performances run Tuesday 16th to Friday 26th April 2023 at Stone Nest London.
Kiss Marry Kill is an electrifying and intimate story of love and redemption. Inspired by true events, this dramatic recreation from award-winning site-specific specialists Dante or Die, reimagines the first same sex marriage that took place in a UK prison.
Jay and Paul are both serving life sentences for homophobic murders. Incredibly, they fall in love and seek permission to marry.
Kiss Marry Kill zeroes in on the limits of our compassion, challenging our assumptions and preconceptions around sexuality, and the criminal justice system.
The production will tour to chapels across the UK and will preview in Kent in partnership with Ideas Test before opening to press at Stone Nest London on Thursday 18th April. It will then travel to Manchester, Reading and Norwich with full tour dates. Casting will be announced shortly that will include ex-prisoners.
Take a seat on a prison bed and prepare for the action to take place in front, above and around you - in signature Dante or Die style. With live music from rapper Lady Lykez, this site-responsive production envelops audiences in the private spaces and conversations of a world rarely seen.
During the development of the production, Dante or Die has created two pathway programmes: a 6-week theatre project in HMP Swaleside and a 10 week training programme for ex-prisoners in partnership with Synergy Theatre.
Age guidance: 16+ and the running time is 90mins without interval.
Content warning: Discussion and descriptions of homophobic hate crimes. There are also scenes of a sexual nature, nudity, violence and strong language.
