New Billy Elliot To Join London Cast As Booking Extends To December 2010

Billy Elliot the Musical announces 450,000 new tickets for sale, taking bookings up until 18 December 2010. 

Since its world premiere four years the international award-winning hit Billy Elliot the Musical has now played to over 4 million people worldwide including HM The Queen. In March next year Billy Elliot the Musical will celebrate its fifth birthday at the Victoria Palace Theatre.

Set in the North East, Billy Elliot the Musical is a funny, heart-warming and feel-good celebration of oNe Young boy's dreams. This new staging of Billy Elliot the Musical is an adaptation of one of the most adored British films of the last decade which broke box office records across the world and was nominated for 3 Oscars and 13 BAFTA Awards

The international smash-hit production directed by Stephen Daldry with a score by Elton John, has award-winning choreography by Peter Darling, designs by Ian MacNeil, sound by Paul Arditti and lighting by Rick Fisher. Billy Elliot the Musical is presented in London by Universal Pictures Stage Productions, Working Title Films and Old Vic Productions in association with Tiger Aspect. Billy Elliot the Musical, based on the Universal Pictures/Studio Canal film, opened on Broadway at the Imperial Theatre in November 2008 and previously played in both Melbourne and Sydney.

NEW BILLY ELLIOT TO JOIN CAST

From 30 November 2009 (previewing from 23 November), twelve year old Dean-Charles Chapman from Essex will return to the London cast of Billy Elliot the Musical to play the title role. Dean re-joins the Company where, aged seven, he played Small Boy in the original cast and last year he came back to play Billy's best friend Michael.

"My name is Dean and I play Billy Elliot. I am 12 years old and I live in Essex with my Mum and Dad and my two sisters. I played small boy in 2005 when Billy first opened and I played Michael, Billy's best friend, in 2008. I have been training for Billy for two years now and I am really excited about my first performance! I am going to dedicate my first performance as Billy to all those who have helped me along the way and Collin's Performing Arts School where I studied Dance and Drama." Dean-Charles Chapman.

The full cast of Billy Elliot the Musical, from 30 November 2009, is Dean-Charles Chapman who joins Oliver Gardner (12 years old from Bath), Tom Holland (13 years old from Kingston-upon-Thames) and Fox Jackson-Keen (14 years old from Hornsey, London), alternating the title role, alongside principal cast members Joanna Riding (Mrs Wilkinson), Joe Caffrey (Dad), Craig Gallivan (Tony), Ann Emery (Grandma), David Nellist (George), Sean Kingsley (Mr Braithwaite), Samantha Seager (Dead Mum) and Barnaby Meredith (Older Billy). They are joined by Connor Kelly (11 years old from Scunthorpe), George Maycock (12 years old from Solihull) and Jake Pratt (13 years old originally from Scarborough, now living in Middlesex), who will alternate the role of Billy's best friend Michael and Emily Smith (10 years old from County Durham), Fleur Houdijk (12 years old from Hartlepool) and Francesca Mango (10 years old from Northumberland) who alternate the role of Debbie.
