Today, 12 year old Kaine Ward from Hertfordshire and 9 year old Macy Staisick from Darlington will join the new West End cast of Billy Elliot the Musical which is now in its seventh year at the Victoria Palace Theatre. Kaine will become the twenty-eighth boy to play the title role in the West End and the 62nd boy to play the role worldwide, including Jamie Bell who played Billy Elliot in the award-winning film. He is joined by Macy who plays Dance Teacher Mrs Wilkinson's daughter, Debbie.
Kaine will alternate the role of Billy with
Ryan Collinson (13 years old from Southport),
Josh Baker (13 years old from Rochester) and
Adam Vesperman (13 years old from Seattle, Washington, USA) and Macy will alternate the role of Debbie with
Francesca Mango (11 years old from Northumberland) and
Emily Williams (10 years old from East Wingate, County Durham).
Based on the Oscar nominated film, Billy Elliot the Musical is an inspirational story of one boy's dream to realise his ambitions against the odds. Set in the North East of England against the background of the historic 1984/85 miners' strike, Billy pursues his passion for dance in secret to avoid disapproval of his struggling family.

"My name is Kaine Ward, I am 12 years old and I live in Hertfordshire with my mum, Lee, and my two dogs Taz and Dillon. I went to see Billy Elliot for my birthday last November and I knew straight away that playing Billy was something I was determined to do. My first audition was in February and after five months of nerve racking auditions I was told I got the part. I couldn't believe it! I started dancing at the age of two at The Village School of Dance and Drama with Caroline Simmonds and there I performed in great classic shows like Annie and Bugsy Malone. Now I go to Tring Park School for the Performing Arts which I really enjoy - I love going back to see all my friends and teachers when I am not at Billy. I am really excited about my first performance on Monday!"

Macy Stasiak I'm 9 years old and I live in Darlington in the North-East with my mum Naomi and step-dad Neil. I love dancing and listening to 80s' music and I go to Stagecoach every week - it's my favourite hobby. I have wanted to be in Billy Elliot the Musical for a long time and 2010 I was lucky enough to have taken part in the Billy Youth Theatre when I played a ballet girl. I decided to go to audition for the role of Debbie in real show and when I got the part I could not believe it, it was a dream come true. I am so excited about performing on the West End stage!"

The internationally award-winning show, which opened at the Victoria Palace Theatre in 2005, has been seen by over 7.5 million people worldwide, including 3.5 million in the West End. Billy Elliot the Musical has also been staged in Sydney, Melbourne, Chicago, Toronto and Seoul, South Korea. The show continues to perform at the Imperial Theatre on Broadway and on tour across North America and further international productions are planned.
