The Almeida Theatre Board today (14 March 2013) announces Axel Burrough, John Cassy, Marc Mathieu and Lucy Perman as new Trustees of the theatre. Christopher Rodrigues CBE, Chair, Almeida Theatre Board, said: "I am delighted to welcome our new trustees to the Almeida. All four will bring a wealth of experience in their individuAl Fields and we are thrilled that they have generously volunteered their time to give the Almeida their support and guidance going forward."
Axel Burrough
An architect who has specialised in the design of theatres and buildings for the arts. Now an independent consultant, he was a director of the Islington-based architects Levitt Bernstein for 38 years. He served on the board of the Theatres Trust for six years and is a Fellow of the Royal Society of Arts. He has acted as an independent assessor for Arts Council England and the Scottish Arts Council and is an Islington resident.
John Cassy
Director, 3D at BSkyB Plc. Previously he created and grew Sky Arts into the UK's leading arts television channel portfolio. Credits include the BAFTA nominated One & Other public art project in Trafalgar Square with Antony Gormley and a series of innovative award winning commissions across drama, music and visual arts. He sits on the board of governors of the Los Angeles based International 3D Society and is a mentor with UpRising, a leadership network set up by the Young Foundation. Prior to joining BSkyB he was a journalist with The Guardian newspaper.
Marc Mathieu
Senior Vice President Marketing at Unilever. He is responsible for the development of Unilever's new global marketing strategy - Crafting Brands for Life. Prior to joining Unilever, Mathieu was SVP Global Brand Marketing at Coca-Cola, where he created the 'Coke Side of Life' global campaign and developed their sustainability platform "Live Positively". Mathieu is also a co-founder of the strategic branding consultancy, Bedo. He sits on the Advisory Panel of the Guardian Digital and Media network and is an advisor to the Sustainable Brands conference and the social commerce start up We&Co.
Lucy Perman MBE
Executive Director of Clean Break - an award-winning theatre company working with women whose lives have been affected by the criminal justice system. With a background in the arts and media sectors, she has previously held a number of trustee roles including Vice-Chair of the Independent Theatre Council.
The Almeida Board comprises Christopher Rodrigues CBE (Chair), David Carter (Treasurer), Jill Barton, Richard Gildea, Giles Havergal CBE, Linden Ife, Jagdip Jagpal, Ray O'Connell, Rufus Olins, Jane Thompson, Jonathan Tyler and Roy Williams OBE.
