Adrian will succeed current CEO Jeremy Walker in September.
The trustees of the National Youth Music Theatre (NYMT) have announced the appointment of Adrian Packer CBE as the charity's new Associate CEO from 1 September 2023. Adrian is currently Group CEO of CORE Education Trust - a post he will continue to hold alongside his new role at NYMT.
Adrian succeeds current CEO, Jeremy Walker, who retires at the end of the company's summer season.
Paul Munden, Chair of Trustees at NYMT, said: "I am very pleased that following a well-subscribed recruitment exercise we have appointed Adrian Packer CBE as Associate CEO of the National Youth Music Theatre. Adrian is an exceptionally experienced business leader and educator, with a strong pedigree in music theatre. I have no doubt that he is the right person to follow the excellent work by Jeremy Walker and to take NYMT on the next stage of its journey as it approaches its 50th anniversary. We look forward to working with Adrian over the next six months in his role as Associate CEO Designate as he gets to know the organisation."
Adrian Packer CBE said: "It is a great privilege to have been appointed to the new role of Associate CEO of NYMT. When I take up the role in September, I will be focused on the continued delivery of our usual high standards of work, while also accelerating and widening our ongoing drive to offer positive life experiences for young people from all backgrounds across the UK. I am humbled by the opportunity to build on the exceptional foundations first set out by our founder Jeremy James Taylor OBE, and more recently developed by Jeremy Walker, both of whom I respect and admire for their tireless dedication to the many extraordinary NYMT communities - past, present and future."
Until September 2023, Adrian will act as Associate CEO Designate, getting to know the NYMT's staff and volunteers, and attending some of its Easter holiday residential rehearsals and workshops.
Adrian will succeed current CEO Jeremy Walker in September, who has been in post for 12 years. During this time the NYMT has worked with thousands of young people from around the UK in workshops and productions, winning nominations and awards for its work - most recently for its inclusive production of 'The Hunchback of Notre Dame' in Manchester Cathedral in August 2021.
