The co-stars of the Vaudeville Theatre's new production of Little Voice have been announced today. Alongside last years X Factor contestant Diana Vickers in the title role will be, Lesley Sharp and Marc Warren. Sharp will play Little Voice's mum Mari and Warren will play Ray Say, Mari's boyfriend. In contrast to Vickers who is making her professional stage debut, both actors have a wealth of experience and have built up an impressive CV between them.

Little Voice is the story of a chronically shy teen, who lives with her domineering, drunken mother in the North of England. In order to find some sort of escape she mimics the singers she finds in her late father's record collection.  Ray Say, who dates Little Voice's mother spots the young girl's vocal talents, singing songs by the greats such as Shirley Bassey, Edith Piaf and Judy Garland and tries to exploit her for his own gain. The show runs for a limited season at the Vaudeville Theatre from October 8 and is currently booking until January 30 2010. Further casting and full creative team for the new production will be announced soon.

A collaboration between Tony Yap Company and MAV Australia and Nottle Theatre Company, South Korea is taking place at Forty Five Downstairs from tonight until August 23. The Buddha My Body - a Palimpsest investigates the processes of attachment, suffering and silence.

With it being the summer it means that many West End performers are taking a well-earned break, allowing the opportunity to see some very talented understudies. At Jersey Boys the role of Bob Gaudio will be played by Kieran Jae until August 22 and over at Hairspray, Adam Price continues to fill in for Nigel Planer as Wilbur until August 29. Finally, Sarah Earnshaw will once again be taking on the role of Glinda as Dianne Pilkington takes a holiday for this next week.
