The shortlist for the MTM:UK Edinburgh Festival Fringe Musical Theatre Awards have been announced today. The nominations for Best New Musical are: Ed: The Musical- Stuart Price (book), Michael Bruce (music/lyrics), Lauren Southwick (director) and Stopped Clock (producer); The Great British Soap Opera- Jake Brunger (book/lyrics), Pippa Cleary (music/lyrics), Luke Sheppard (director) and Take Note Theatre (producer);Over The Threshold- Christopher Hamilton (music/book/lyrics), John Brant (director) and Jomo Productions in Association with Perfect Pitch (producers);Porn The Musical- Malcolm Galea (book/lyrics), Kris Spiteri (music/lyrics) and Boris Cezek (music/lyrics), Malcolm Galea (director) and Indiskarf with Latina Pictures (producers). In other news, Jaime Winstone is to make her stage acting debut next month in Edward Dick's revival of Philip Ridley's The Fastest Clock in the Universe from September 22 to October 17 2009 with previews showing from September 17.

Notes From New York's latest production will be Notes Unleashed! The Music of Lance Horne another one-night only concert on September 3 at the Vaudeville Theatre, following Alan Cumming's solo show at The Vaudeville that evening.
Cumming will be joined by West End stars including Julie Atherton (Avenue Q), Aneurin Barnard (Spring Awakening), Simon Burke (La Cage Aux Folles), Alexandra Silber (Carousel), Hannah Waddingham (Spamalot, A Little Night Music) and Emma Williams (Desperately Seeking Susan, Zorro).
On the other side of the pond casting for A Little Night Music has been revealed. Michael Riedel reports today in his 'On Broadway' column in the The New York Post that the upcoming revival, based on last years The Meiner Chocolate Factory's production, has found its leading ladies. Riedel reveals that Catherine Zeta-Jones and recent Tony Award winner Angela Lansbury have agreed to appear in the production.
