Terry Hands' production of Jonathan Lichtenstein's Memory will open at the Pleasance Theatre, Islington on 1 October, after a national tour.  Previews at the Pleasance begin on 30 September and the show is booking until 2 November.   Hands' production, which had its world premiere in 2006 at Clywd Theatr Cymru before an off-Broadway run, is designed by Martyn Bainbridge. Memory is presented at the Pleasance Theatre by Clwyd Theatr Cymru in association with Karl Sydow.

The cast is Ifan Huw Dafydd, Daniel Hawksford, Guy Lewis, Simon Nehan, Vivien Parry, Oliver Ryan and Tom Shepherd.

Memory is an intimate exploration of how we choose to remember events and the consequences of those choices.  From a group of actors and their director in the rehearsal room, Memory takes us to East Berlin in 1990 just as the wall has come down.  A young man arrives at his grandmother's flat with awkward questions about the past.  Meanwhile, a generation later, the Israeli security barrier is going up.

Welsh writer Jonathan Lichtenstein has written five plays comprising Moving the Scrolls and Human Rights for BBC Radio 4, Station - staged by Soho Theatre Company, The Pull of Negative Gravity - staged by the Traverse, Edinburgh before an international tour, and Memory.  He is currently working on a new play The Morning of Two Lights.
