Apples & Pears, LLC will present an invitational reading of the haunting new drama THE REPORT in London next Tuesday, June 20 at 2 pm. Based on the novel by Jessica Francis Kane, THE REPORT was adapted by Martin Casella, whose THE IRISH CURSE had a highly acclaimed Off-Broadway run following a London Fringe production at The Stag.

The show's director is Alan Cox (MRS. DALLOWAY, "The Good Wife," YOUNG SHERLOCK HOLMES), whose directing credits include the recent Off-Broadway production of THE PIGEON IN THE Taj Mahal.

THE REPORT examines the true, unknown story of the British government's cover-up of the largest civilian tragedy of World War II...the deaths of 173 people in London's BethnAl Green tube station during an air raid when not a single bomb was dropped. The cause of this disaster was kept secret for almost 30 years, until a young BBC journalist making a documentary began to uncover what actually took place. As the truth is revealed, we discover how trauma, fear and the paranoia of war impact our very humanity, and how the specter of a single mass tragedy resonates across multiple generations.

The rehearsed reading will feature Jasper Britton (RICHARD II and HENRY IV at Royal Shakespeare Company, THE NEW WORLD, ANONYMOUS), Ilan Goodman (BAD JEWS), along with an ensemble including Chris Harper (CORONATION STREET), Kaffe Keating (THE CURIOUS INCIDENT OF A DOG IN THE NIGHT-TIME), Francis Adams, Paul Albertson, Philippa Dawson, Clemmie Evans, David Haydn, Victoria Jeffrey, Sarah Roy, and Zoe? Watkins.

For additional details on next week's reading at Addison Studio - ND2, contact General Manager, David Adkin, at office@davidadkin.com.

THE REPORT had a developmental workshop in the 2015 New York International Fringe Festival. In addition, THE REPORT won the Festival's Excellence in Playwriting Award.

Martin Casella is a playwright and screenwriter whose recent theater credits, in addition to the Off-Broadway and worldwide productions of THE IRISH CURSE, include the award-winning DIRECTIONS FOR RESTORING THE APPARENTLY DEAD and SCITUATE. His most recent film credit is the script of THE LAND OF SOMETIMES, an animated British feature film starring Ewan McGregor, Helena Bonham-Carter and James Corden.

THE REPORT is based on the novel of the same name by Jessica Francis Kane which was published by Graywolf Press in September 2010. The novel was a finalist for the Flaherty-Dunnan First Novel Prize from the Center for Fiction, the Indie Bookseller's Choice Award, the Grub Street Book Prize for Fiction, and a Barnes & Noble Discover Great New Writers selection. The beautifully crafted novel is an evocative reimagining of a World War II civilian disaster which paints a vivid portrait of London at war and is a compelling commentary on the way all tragedies are remembered.
