St. James Theatre & Barry Satchwell-Smith have just announced that one of Britain's most popular musical stars, Marti Webb, will perform the original production of Andrew Lloyd Webber and Don Black's classic Tell Me On a Sunday from 7-12 January 2014. Tickets go on sale on Friday 22 November. Press night is on 8 January 2014.

Tell Me On a Sunday is a one-woman show that charts the course of an English girl newly arrived in New York. Brimming with optimism, she sets out to find success, companionship and love. But as she weaves her way through the maze of the city and her own anxieties, frustrations and heartaches she begins to wonder whether - in fact - she's been looking for love in all the wrong places.

Marti reprises her original role in Tell Me On a Sunday, for which she received huge critical acclaim. Tell Me On a Sunday was originally performed as an album and then a TV special and later on stage as one half of Song & Dance. The album Tell Me on a Sunday reached Number One in the charts and the single Take That Look Off Your Face reached Number Two.

Marti last performed the role 10 years ago, in London on a UK tour. On returning to her role she said: "I'm thrilled and delighted to be doing Tell Me On a Sunday again. It means so much to me, it really does. It was one of the most important things to have happened to me in my life."

Tell Me On a Sunday will run at the St. James Theatre for eight performances only. The show will be supported by hits from theatreland's latest and greatest shows, exclusive to the UK.

Marti Webb is established as one of Britain's most popular stars, with her leading roles in numerous West End musicals including Stop the World I Want To Get Off, Half A Sixpence, Oliver!, Godspell, The Card, The Good Companions, Evita, Cats, The Seven Deadly Sins for the English National Opera and, Thoroughly Modern Millie at the Shaftesbury Theatre.

Entirely funded by private investment and designed and built to the highest standards, St. James Theatre is a vibrant addition to the London cultural scene. The space includes a 312 seat theatre, a studio space, brasserie and bar. Ten critically acclaimed full scale productions have been staged at the St. James Theatre since it opened its doors in September 2012. Currently playing is the Tony nominated In the Next Room or the vibrator play by Sarah Ruhl. Previous productions, in chronological order, are Bully Boy by Sandi Toksvig, directed by Patrick Sandford and starring Anthony Andrews and Joshua Miles; Daddy Long Legs by Jean Webster, book by and directed by John Caird and starring Megan McGinnis and Robert Adelman; Travelling Light's Cinderella directed by Sally Cookson and with a cast including Lisa Kerr and Thomas Eccleshare; Out of Joint's 25th anniversary production of Our Country's Good by Timberlake Wertenbaker, directed by Max Stafford Clark; The Thrill of Love by Amanda Whittington, directed by James Dacre; London Wall by John Van Druten, directed by Tricia Thorn; Northern Broadsides production of Rutherford and Son by Githa Sowerby , directed by Jonathan Miller and with a cast including Barrie Rutter; Richard Greenberg's The American Plan, directed by David Grindley and with a cast including Diana Quick and Dona Croll; and Scenes from a Marriage by Ingmar Bergman, directed by Trevor Nunn and starring Olivia Williams and Mark Bazeley. www.stjamestheatre.co.uk.
