MAY CONTAIN NUTS, seven American one-act comedies by David Ives and Mike Folie, will be at the Hen and Chickens from Tuesday 22 September to Saturday 10 October.

In the cast are Noa Bodner, Caroline Colomei, Jason Denyer, Trine Garrett, Helen Jeckells, Jack Lewis and Pamela Parry. The director is Niki Flacks.

The David Ives comedies are The Philadelphia, Sure Thing, Time Flies, The Universal Language, and Words, Words, Words. This will be the UK première for Sexual Perversity in Connecticut and Dust by Mike Folie.

The most well known play is The Philadelphia, which is about a man who thinks he is just having a bad day, only to be told by his friend that he has actually fallen into a metaphysical hole called a Philadelphia. In a Philadelphia everything goes wrong: the taxis don't take you where you want to go, the newsstands don't sell your newspaper, and no matter what you order at a restaurant, you'll end up with a cheese-steak.

David Ives' most popular book of plays is the award-winning All in the Timing, one-act comedies that premièred at Primary Stages in 1993, transferred to the John Houseman Theatre, where it ran for 606 performances. These include The Philadelphia, and The Universal Language. He is a contributor to the New Yorker and New York Times Magazine.

David Ives co-wrote the book for Irving Berlin's White Christmas in 2008/09 at the Marquis Theater Broadway; he adapted Mark Twain's comedy Is He Dead for Michael Blakemore's Broadway production in 2008; and contributed to the 24 Hour Plays at the American Airlines Theater in 2006. He adapted the script for Kathleen Marshall's Broadway revival of Wonderful Town in 2003.

Mike Folie's plays have been produced Off Broadway, Los Angeles, UK and Dublin Festival. His play Lemonade was at the Tamarind California with Maxwell Caulfield and Heather Tom. Sexual Perversity in Connecticut was published in Best Short Plays of 2008.

Niki Flacks has directed and performed in both the US and the UK. She has been in many Broadway musicals. Her directing credits include Beauty Queen of Leenane and Old Times in the US and two Mike Folie comedies at the Tristan Bates London.
