London's Almeida to Host Chain Play on March 23

Almeida will host its first ever Chain Play for one night only, Friday, March 23, as the theatre's primary 2007 fundraising event. Featuring Michelle Austin, Tito Fagbenle, Jenny Jules, Alastair Mackenzie, Danny Sapani and Jodie Whittaker, and directed by Tom Cairns, the play was composed over a few months by several writers.

Each writer had two weeks to add a 10-15 minute scene before passing the script on to the next playwright. Playwrights Samuel Adamson, Moira Buffini, David Hare, Charlotte Jones, Frank McGuinness and Roy Williams all contributed to the production.

Michelle Austin has been seen in the Young Vic Theatre's Generations as well as Hampstead Theatre's Out in the Open, and TV viewers recognize her from her two years as Yvonne Fletcher in "The Bill."

Tito Fagbenle won the Best Actor of the Year Award 2005 at Identity Drama School and makes his professional debut in A Chain Play at the Almeida.

Alastair Mackenzie played Archie in the BBC's prime-time series "Monarch of the Glen," and he also appeared on "Reichenbach Falls, " "Hamish Macbeth," "Lovejoy Psychos," "Soldier, Soldier" and "Game On."
 
Jenny Jules' is currently appearing the Almeida's production of Big White Fog, running May 11—June 30, and was also seen in the Tricycle Theatre's Fabulation, Gem of the Ocean, Walk Hard, Talk Loud, and The Promise.

Danny Sapani is also currently in Almeida's Big White Fog, and has also appeared in The Overwhelming and His Dark Materials at The National Theatre, Julius Caesar at the Globe, and Macbeth at the Arcola Theatre.

 Jodie Whittaker recently starred as Nadya in Michael Attenborough's production of Enemies and also played the lead role in Roger Michell's acclaimed film Venus.
