The Really Useful Group, the international musical entertainment company founded in 1977 by composer and producer Andrew Lloyd Webber, has begun preliminary discussions with a number of the world's leading video game publishers as it looks to take its portfolio of world-famous brands into the interactive entertainment sphere.
Douglas Glen, Head of Digital Strategy for The Really Useful Group says: "With the video gaming audience having moved from its male-dominated roots towards a more family-oriented demographic, now is the perfect time for us to take some of the best-known names in musical entertainment in a more interactive direction. Our aim is to find a partner who will work across our entire catalogue to deliver high-quality games on a variety of hardware platforms."
The Really Useful Group's move into video games comes hot on the heels of its recent expansion into other areas of digital publishing, most notably the relaunch of its consumer website (at www.reallyuseful.com)- which now features exclusive content and social networking elements - and the opening of a branded YouTube channel (at www.youtube.com/reallyusefulgroup).
The Really Useful Group owns some of the best known global properties in musical entertainment, including Cats, Evita and The Phantom of the Opera. The company's founder, Andrew Lloyd Webber, is well known to TV audiences on both sides of the Atlantic through his appearances on US show American Idol and the BBC's Saturday night casting shows, which include his current search for the UK's Eurovision representative on ‘Your Country Needs You'.
