According to reports by the Daily Mail and the Daily Beast, Lindsay Lohan's first Speed-the-Plow preview tonight, September 24, at the Playhouse Theatre was marked by line flubs, wardrobe malfunctions, and the audience's laughter at -- not necessarily with -- the star.

Describing the scene, a source told the Mail: "She was just fine, she did forget her lines a couple of times but covered it up like a pro. She was a pleasant surprise for sure. Lindsay's character was quite interesting and she immersed herself in the role, she was very strong in the second scene which was her biggest one...She looked amazing... I was in awe of her. It was no means a perfect performance and she's certainly no Judi Dench, but she wasn't awful. There is a line where she says 'I know what it is to be bad, I've been bad' and the audience all cracked up laughing but she got great applause in the curtain call and someone passed her flowers from audience."

As the evening came to a close, the audience began to weigh in on Twitter on the actress' West End debut. Scroll down for some of the reviews, both good and bad...

@toflee: "So Lindsay Lohan had her lines written down in a book & also got fed a line. Total car crash."

@rafayfay: "Major kudos to the woman who was feeding Lindsay Lohan her lines from offstage at #speedtheplow."

@SamuelCh: "Loved love loved #speedtheplow !! @lindsaylohan was superb in the 3rd act! Such an amazing actress!!" and "Little bit nervous at the beginning but then totally embraced it!"

@officialkims: "and Congratulations @lindsaylohan opening night of #speedtheplow all the fear is really only one fear."

@LindsayLohanGua: "I'm going to cry!!!! OMG :) you deserve an everyday standing ovation @lindsaylohan xoxoxo repost from."

@steveatgigs: "Lindsay Lohan needed line prompting 5 times, after the interval, but hiding behind 1st preview nerves is a great performance. #speedtheplow"

@hayleyminn: "@lindsaylohan laughing every time she forgot her lines was amazing. #speedtheplow #TheLindsayLohanPlay"

@Ftballlwyr: "At the #speedtheplow intermission: @lindsaylohan looks beautiful and clearly belongs on the stage."

Despite the public's mixed reaction, the Daily Beast's Nico Hines assured readers "this was no car crash." He continued, "If Lohan can nail her lines in the coming days, this somewhat pedestrian interpretation of the Mamet classic certainly could find its stride."

Hines also pointed out that Speed-the-Plow has "personal echoes" for Lohan, which makes it hard "for the audience to fully forget that this is Lindsay Lohan on stage" and applauded Lohan's co-star Richard Schiff, describing him as "crackling with energy."

Theatre Royal Bath Productions presents Lindsay Lohan, Richard Schiff and Nigel Lindsay in David Mamet's SPEED-THE-PLOW. When a hugely bankable star agrees to appear in a sure-fire commercial hit, film producers Bobby Gould (Richard Schiff) and Charlie Fox (Nigel Lindsay) are convinced this is the break of a lifetime. That is until Karen (Lindsay Lohan), a temporary secretary, derails the dream. When she persuades Bobby to dump the blockbuster in favour of a story which can only be described as box-office poison, Charlie is forced to resort to desperate measures... This brilliantly satirical portrayal of Hollywood is by David Mamet, the foremost playwright of his generation and the author of Glengarry Glen Ross, Oleanna and American Buffalo.
