Liza Pulman, the acclaimed singer & comedienne and one third of the satirical and much loved comedy trio Fascinating Aida, returned in 2017 with her third solo show Liza Pulman Sings Streisand.
As part of an ongoing successful tour of England, Liza Pulman Sings Streisand comes to London's Cadogan Hall on 18 October 2017 following the launch of her double A-side single, You Don't Bring Me Flowers/The Way We Were originally written and performed by Neil Diamond, covered by Barbra Streisand and eventually becoming a duet between the two. In Liza's special arrangements made with Joseph Atkins the songs are reworked to include brass band. For the recordings Liza travelled home to the town where her mother grew up and the band she knows best, the fabulous The Brighouse & Rastrick Band.
This is no Stars in Their Eyes, it is sexy, sassy Liza weaving together history, humour and harmony as she celebrates the songs of the great Barbra Streisand with her six piece band, The Stardust Ensemble.
Showbiz is in Liza's blood. Her performance dreams started young, just like Streisand's. As the daughter of screenwriter Jack Pulman (I, Claudius, War and Peace) and actress Barbara Young (Coronation Street, Family Affairs, Last of the Summer Wine,) Liza's parents immersed her in a world of film, scripts, acting and music at a young age, which set her up perfectly for a career on the stage. Her mother once met Streisand, and it is stories like this that Liza weaves between songs, bringing not just her exceptional voice, but her storytelling and her own personal slant on Streisand's life and music to the stage.
Featuring all the greatest Streisand hits from Evergreen to The Way We Were, and the much-loved Funny Girl, numbers Don't Rain On My Parade, Second Hand Rose and many more, Liza Pulman Sings Streisand brings glorious new arrangements and orchestrations of Streisand's legendary music, alongside renowned musical director and Liza's long-time collaborator Joseph Atkins. You can see Liza performing Evergreen Here, in her Songs of Hollywood show.
Liza said, "Barbra Streisand is a legend, her talent across singing, directing and screenwriting, and her rhythm as a natural comedian have all inspired me both on and off stage. I absolutely love putting the show programmes together. I love creating new arrangements of songs that people know really well and also introducing the audience to songs they might not already know. Working with my band to bring together the best of Barbra Streisand's songs has been a real treat and we can't wait to share this with you!"
