Oscar-nominee Kristin Scott Thomas will return to the London stage in the Royal Court Theatre's revival of Anton Chekhov's The Seagull, according to Variety.  The play will begin its run in January.

The English Patient star will play actress Arkadina in the play, which concerns the romantic entangements and regrets of a group of artists, writers and actors on a Russian estate.  Thomas will be joined by Mackenzie Crook (the Pirates of the Caribbean films), who will play her dreamer son Konstantin.

The production, which will be helmed by Ian Rickson (the Royal Court's departing artistic director), will feature Christopher Hampton's (Dangerous Liaisons, Sunset Boulevard) translation of the play.

Scott Thomas is no stranger to Chekhov, having earned an Olivier Award nomination for her performance as Masha in Michael Blakemore's staging of The Three Sisters.  She earned an Oscar nomination for her performance in The English Patient, and other film credits include Gosford Park, Up at the Villa, Random Hearts, The Horse Whisperer, and Angels and Insects.

The Seagull will be presented as part of the Royal Court's 50th anniversary season.  Visit www.royalcourttheatre.com for more information.
