Continuing their nationwide Spamalot quest for the ever-elusive Holy Grail, King Arthur (Bob Harms) and his Knights of the Round Table yesterday arrived in the Midland Kingdom of Mercia, hailed throughout the land as the home of the thriving cultural hub of Coventry.
Ahead of a hunt that would take them to the stage of the kingdom's Belgrade Theatre, the legendary knight errant and his loyal coconut-bearer Patsy (Rhys Owen) were invited to the nearby Kenilworth Castle for an audience with the renowned local noblewoman, Lady Godiva (Pru Poretta).
As well as meeting and greeting the elegant wife of Earl Leofric of Mercia, the duo took the opportunity to explore the castle grounds for any clues as to the possible whereabouts of their coveted cup, but alas, it was all to no avail!
At one point Patsy was even caught by castle guards, and found himself locked up in the dungeon for snooping!
Fortunately, all was ultimately well, as the sage King Arthur was able to explain the situation and have his faithful servant released, from thence travelling on to the Belgrade, where they will take up residence until this Saturday 3 March.
Below is a link to a series of official portraits recording Arthur's visit to Kenilworth Castle. Credit for these skillful likenesses should go to Tara Rutledge. Special thanks also to the staff of the castle for hosting the spam-filled shenanigans.
