The unique open-air theatre, Kilworth House Theatre, is gearing up for its third summer season which kicks off with the classic Gershwin musical Crazy For You from 4 June to 5 July 2009 with a press night on 10 June. Following the Live at Kilworth series of one night concerts in July, the exquisite The Opera Show will return from 2 to 13 September with a press night on 3 September.

Set in the rolling south Leicestershire hills, the award-winning Kilworth House Theatre is the first privately owned theatre to be built in the grounds of a hotel, which lies amidst the magnificent surroundings of the 38-acre Kilworth Estate. Following two sell-out seasons and with ticket sales already strong for 2009, Kilworth House Theatre is fast developing a reputation as a producer of high quality open-air theatre of a standard rarely seen outside the West End. With the opportunity for a pre-theatre picnic on the lawn or dinner in the hotel's stunning Orangery Restaurant, Kilworth House Theatre offers a magical, unforgettable summer experience.

The brains behind Kilworth House Theatre is theatre owner and producer Celia Mackay who explains: ‘The theatre is the fulfilment of a lifelong ambition and we feel sure that it will become a permanent fixture for lovers of musical theatre and those looking for a magical night out on a beautiful summer's evening'.

Crazy For You is the quintessential feel-good musical - where everybody sings, everybody dances and where anything on hand is used to make music. The glorious music and lyrics of the incomparable Gershwins includes such classics as ‘Someone To Watch Over Me', ‘Embraceable You', ‘They Can't Take That Away From Me', ‘Nice Work If You Can Get It' and the show-stopping ‘ I Got Rhythm'.

The Opera Show presents the most beautiful music ever written performed in a colourful, breathtaking style for the 21st century. Created and directed by Mitch Sebastian (The Rat Pack, La Cava, Playhouse Creatures - The Peter Hall Company, Romance Romance), this ravishing, original production brings to life seductive arias and timeless classics. With dazzling choreography and spectacular costumes, The Opera Show promises an electrifying evening that will delight opera enthusiasts and newcomers alike.

The world premiere of The Opera Show was performed at Kilworth House Theatre in September 2008 to such an overwhelming response from audiences that, due to huge demand, it makes a welcome return prior to embarking on an extensive tour of Europe and the USA.

Kilworth House Theatre will also present a number of one night performances from visiting artists during its Live at Kilworth season in July including Elkie Brooks, AlEd Jones, Ken Dodd and 10cc.
Kilworth House Theatre partners with the luxurious Grade II listed Kilworth House Hotel to offer Theatre Breaks including pre-theatre dinner, tickets for the show and bed and breakfast. This is a wonderful chance to relax in an elegant hotel and be invigorated by live musical theatre at its very best.
