On Sunday March 8, as part of Tim McArthur's 2015 Cabaret In The House season, the intimate and historic venue Lauderdale House will host Once Upon A Song - A Magical Musical Cabaret, starring Kieran Brown (a 2013 BWW:UK Awards nominee for Best Leading Actor in a Fringe Musical for his performance as Doc in Rodgers And Hammerstein's Pipe Dream). Brown's career encompasses a wide variety of roles - ranging from TV appearances as a drug dealer in Taggart, a murder victim in Randall & Hopkirk (Deceased) and Scottish writer James Boswell to stage performances in West End musicals such as Wicked, Love Never Dies and Les Miserables. He is currently in the cast of Andrew Lloyd Webber's The Phantom Of The Opera at Her Majesty's Theatre, covering the role of The Phantom (having previously played the eponymous role in Maury Yeston's Phantom at Ye Olde Rose And Crown Theatre).
He is also involved with organizing the social media for the charity fundraising initiative, The Phantom Cycle, in which a number of his Phantom Of The Opera cast-mates will be cycling from the steps of Her Majesty's Theatre after their evening show on Saturday 9th May all the way to the steps of the Paris Opera House in aid of MacMillan Cancer Support. (Donations to: www.justgiving.com/PhantomCharityCycle or text "TTRR86" followed by the donation amount to 70070.)
Once Upon A Song will be "a trip to lands far and near, where witches, ghosts or Phantoms may just appear - a musical journey through childhood, our dreams, our wishes, our fears, and what REALLY happens when the lights go out at night, and we get what we wish for..."
Kieran Brown will be joined in the concert by a number of stellar guests, including Scott Garnham (Made In Dagenham, I Can't Sing, Les Miserables) and Ethan LePhong (Miss Saigon). Additional guests will be announced soon. April Nicholson (The Full Monty, The Buccaneer, The First Churchills) will be opening the show with a short set, the evening will be hosted by Valerie Cutko (Carousel, Cabaret, Gay's The Word) and musical direction will be by Dean Ryan.
