Freedom finally beckons for Algie Packer, Essex's most notorious gangster. He's done seven years inside and now he's coming home to collect his booty - £3,672,000 in untraceable notes. But there's something Algie's family have forgotten to mention... The Packers are Essex's lovable, but most dysfunctional family. Lee Evans (The Producers, Endgame, The Dumb Waiter) is hapless, dim-witted Darnley, the village idiot of the criminal underworld, and Sheila Hancock (The Last of the Duchess, Sister Act, The Birthday Party) is Emmie, his mother - the family's Rottweiler with a hairdo. Witness the Packers as they desperately attempt to cover their tracks before Algie arrives to collect what is rightfully his.
BARKING IN ESSEX is a diabolically funny play by Clive Exton, the acclaimed writer of 10 Rillington Place, Poirot and Jeeves and Wooster, and is directed by Harry Burton (The Dumb Waiter, The Leisure Society) and casting is by Anne Vosser. It will be produced in London by Michael Edwards and Carole Winter for MJE Productions.

Additional credits include Troublemakers, The Moonstone, Karaoke, Heartbeat, The Beggar Bride, The Blonde Bombshell, A Murder is Announced, After Thomas, That Mitchell and Webb Look, Identity and Mariah Mundi and the Midas Box, set for release this year.
