Free Trade Productions are delighted to announce the World Premiere of new play Keepsake, the London debut of award-winning playwright Gregory Beam at the Old Red Lion Theatre from Tuesday 7 to Saturday 25 January 2014.

In the wake of their father's suicide, Abra and her adopted sister Samara find themselves together again in their childhood home in Massachusetts. While confronting the troubling circumstances of their father's death, the sisters attempt to reconnect over drinks and discussions about life, work, and love. But when Abra asks Samara to make a huge personal sacrifice, Samara delivers a reckoning that has been building for almost twenty years. Keepsake is a hard-hitting, intense and confrontational new play about the bonds that tie a family together and the secrets that can rip them apart.

Gregory Beam is considered one of the brightest new voices of American theatre, with his work described as 'refreshingly transgressive' and 'perversely sophisticated' by the Chicago Reader. Recent plays include The Bloody Romantic at Chicago Dramatists, and Keepsake, which was a finalist at last year's Eugene O'Neil Theatre Centre National Playwrights Conference before now receiving its World Premiere at the Old Red Lion Theatre.

The cast features Lou Broadbent as Samara, Dilek Rose as Abra/Safweh, James Corscadden as Danny and Allon Sylvain as Yassir.

Lou Broadbent's television credits include Land Girls and Atlantis for the BBC and Poirot for ITV. Theatre credits includeLetters of War for National Youth Theatre and Two Rooms at the Linbury Studio. Dilek Rose's theatre credits include Gather Ye Rosebuds at Theatre503, 24 Hour Plays at Old Vic Theatre, Contractions at Trafalgar Studios and The Wild Party at the Tobacco Factory. James Corscadden's recent credits include The Conspirators directed by Sam Walters at The Orange Tree, King John at the Union Theatre and 24 Hour Plays at The Old Vic Theatre. Allon Sylvain has appeared in Enemies at The Almeida Theatre and Letter to Uri at the Tristan Bates Theatre. As a Dutch and English voice actor Allon has worked for Cartoon Network in the Netherlands, Nickelodeon, MTV, ESPN and the Discovery Channel. Film credits include award-winning short film Long Walk Home at the 2013 Raindance Film Festival.

Keepsake is directed by Sean Martin with design by Katie Bellman (Haymarket Masterclass Apprenticeship, assisting Soutra Gilmour on The Pride at Trafalgar Studios), lighting design by Will Scarnell (work for ENO and Ra Ra Zoo Circus) and sound design by Angus MacRae. It is produced by Erin McCulloch and Susan Ellicott for Free Trade Productions. It is written by Gregory Beam with original composition by Angus McRae.
