London--The social media team behind the 25th anniversary production of Miss Saigon, currently in previews at Prince Edward Theatre (28 Old Compton St.), and Australian-born photographer Michael Le Poer Trench, who has been photographing the sung-through musical since its early years, have officially released the promotional photograph of multi-award winning recording artist-musical theater actress Rachelle Ann Go for Miss Saigon.
Rachelle Ann is currently making her West End Theatre debut as Dreamland Bar's disillusioned prostitute Gigi Van Tranh.
Rachelle Ann's Gigi, 18-year-old actress Eva Noblezada's Kim, and the production's female ensemble open the show with the haunting, poignant "Movie in My Mind," whose some of its original lyrics penned by Alain Boublil and Richard Maltby Jr., featuring music composed by Claude Michel-Schonberg, have been modified in the reimagined production, directed by Laurence Connor, who is also at the helm of the critic-proof new productions of "Les Miserables" (On Tour/Broadway) and "The Phantom of the Opera" (On Tour).
Rachelle Ann, who is originally from Manila, Philippines, began her professional music career after she won the Grand Prize in the reality TV talent search "Search For A Star" 10 years ago. She does concerts in the Philippines and internationally and has recorded seven top-selling albums. Before flying to London, she appeared regularly on GMA TV Network's musical variety show "Sunday All Stars."
On the theatrical front, Rachelle Ann made her professional theater debut playing Ariel in the Asia Pacific premiere of Disney's "Little Mermaid," produced by Atlantis Productions in 2011, which paved the way for her first Best Actress nod: the Best Actress Award in a Musical at the BroadwayWorld.com Awards-Philippines.
Additional musical theater credits include playing Jane Porter in Disney's "Tarzan," produced by Viva Atlantis Theatricals in 2013 and playing the (prerecorded) radio singer in the Asia Pacific premiere of "Ghost: The Musical," produced by Atlantis Productions and Ten Bridges Media Corp., which closes this weekend at Carlos P. Romulo Auditorium in Manila.
The new Miss Saigon in London officially opens Wednesday, May 21.
