West End stars Julie Atherton, Daniel Boys, Chloe Hart, Stuart Matthew Price and Lauren Samuels join Kait Kerrigan and Brian Lowdermilk for their three-event weekend on 8 and 9 February 2014 at the St James Studio.
Kerrigan-Lowerdmilk's short London residency marks their concert debut this side of the pond after successfully making a name for themselves with an international audience as one of the most celebrated writing teams of this generation. Kait Kerrigan (words) and Brian Lowdermilk (music) made their off-Broadway debut in 2006 with their adaptation of Henry and Mudge, still touring nationally and in 2011, they released their first album, Our First Mistake, which charted at #1 on the iTunes Singer/Songwriter chart. Their songs, including hits "Run Away with Me" and "My Party Dress," have found international recognition, gathering millions of views on YouTube and earning them a legion of young fans.
The London concert weekend comprises three separate events shaped to reflect the process, practice and performance of the award winning writing duo. Beginning with a masterclass on Saturday 8 February, Kait and Brian will work closely with four young performers and, with a live audience, open the doors to the inner-workings of song-preparation, music and lyric integration and performance detail.
The second event, on the evening of Saturday 8 February, features performances from the musical theatre super-tenor Stuart Matthew Price (Sound of Music, Shrek, Parade) and a female performer (soon to be announced). Deliberately intimate, the stripped-back concert evening of music, song and stories, is the chance for audiences to share in the processes and magic of Kerrigan-Lowdermilk's writing.
Bringing the weekend to a close and raising the tempo, Sunday 9 February sees West End favourites Julie Atherton (Lift, Sister Act, Avenue Q), Daniel Boys (High Society, Tommy, Avenue Q), Chloe Hart (Wicked, Hairspray), Lauren Samuels (We Will Rock You, Grease, BBC's Over The Rainbow), and more (to be announced) join Kait, Brian and a live-band in full concert setting, performing some of their most familiar music from their latest album LIVE and their back-catalogue of international hits. There will also be an exclusive look at their new musical currently in development.
Kerrigan- Lowdermilk's other musical works include The Unauthorized Autobiography of Samantha Brown, Tales from the Bad Years, The Woman Upstairs, Wrong Number, The Freshman Experiment, Republic and Flash of Time. Their musicals have been developed at the Goodspeed's Norma Terris Theatre, Theatreworks Silicon Valley, La Jolla Playhouse, Perry-Mansfield New Works Festival, ASCAP/Disney Workshop, Manhattan Theatre Club, York Theatre, the Lark Playwrights Development Center, CAP21, and Primary Stages. Together, they received the 2006 Larson Award, 2004-2005 Dramatists Guild Fellowship, and have held residencies at the Orchard Project and the MacDowell Arts Colony.
Produced by United Theatrical (most recently, Andrew Lippa in Concert - St James Theatre).
