Sensational international artist Josh Groban will serve as host for the concert BBC RADIO 2 CELEBRATES THE MUSIC OF DISNEY airing tonight 12/8.

Performed live at London's Lyceum Theatre on Monday 8 December, the concert will feature some of Broadway and the West End's biggest stars. As well as hosting this unique concert event, Josh Groban will also perform "When You Wish Upon a Star" - the Academy Award ® winning classic from ‘Pinocchio' - as the concert's finale. Recently discovered in the Disney archives, this will be the first time that the full concert orchestration has been performed outside of the recording for the film in 1939. The concert will later be broadcast on BBC Radio 2 on Boxing Day, Friday 26 December.

Josh Groban burst on to the international music scene in 2001 with the release of his self-titled debut album featuring the hit single, "To Where You Are". His follow-up CD ‘Closer' with the smash hit "You Raise Me Up" brought enormous success to the young singing sensation. He has made scores of television appearances beginning with Ally McBeal and continuing with countless performances on Oprah Winfrey, Good Morning America, The Today Show, the Superbowl, the Oscars and the closing ceremonies of the 2002 Winter Olympics with an audience of over 2 billion people.

Lewis Carnie, A/Controller Radio 2 says: "The name Disney immediately conjures up a wealth of well loved characters and songs, many of which feature in this unique concert recognising Disney's major contribution to film and stage music. I'm delighted that Josh Groban is joining the stellar cast in what I'm sure will be a hugely enjoyable evening for both the audience and for Radio 2 listeners.

"Reinforcing the network's commitment to live music and musical theatre, this concert follows recent appreciations of the works of Anthony Newley, Cameron Mackintosh, Andrew Lloyd Webber, Don Black, Charles Strouse and Jerry Herman."

BBC RADIO 2 CELEBRATES THE MUSIC OF DISNEY will feature the 70-piece BBC Concert Orchestra performing Oscar®, Grammy® and Tony Award® -winning music spanning over 65 years of the Disney songbook. They will accompany an array of Broadway and West End stars including Ashley Brown (Broadway's original Mary Poppins and ‘Belle' in Disney's BEAUTY AND THE BEAST), Tituss Burgess (Original Broadway casts of THE LITTLE MERMAID and Jersey Boys), Kerry Butler (Original Broadway casts of XANADU and LITTLE SHOP OF HORRORS), Maria Friedman (original West End casts of THE WOMAN IN WHITE and THE WITCHES OF EASTWICK), Heather Headley (Broadway's original AIDA and ‘Nala' in THE LION KING), Adam Pascal (Original Broadway casts of AIDA and RENT), Matt Rawle (original West End cast of EVITA and ZORRO) and Drew Sarich (original ‘Quasimodo' in THE HUNCHBACK OF NOTRE DAME and LES MISERABLES in the West End).
