Joe Pasquale Headlines New Season Of Shows On Sale At Wolverhampton Grand Theatre

A new season of shows including Joe Pasquale in the highly anticipated new stage adaptation of SOME MOTHERS DO 'AVE' EM. Recent star of Strictly Come Dancing and comedy legend Brian Conley, Jane McDonald, Susie Blake and the highly acclaimed Punjabi singer/songwriter Satinder Sartaaj all star in the newly announced season.

SATINDER SARTAAJ returns after his sell-out success in 2016 on Friday 9 March. An outstanding poet and singer from India, he has mesmerised audiences across the world. From performing at the prestigious Royal Albert Hall to playing to crowds of over 50,000 in India, this amazing talent is set to grace the Grand Theatre stage once again.

Brian Conley - STRICTLY COME LAUGHING on Saturday 10 March see the multi- talented and irrepressible Brian Conley returns to the stage with his new show. Featuring brand new comedy, sketches and songs alongside some of his best-known material from stage and screen. SWEENEY TODD by Walsall Operatic Society from Tuesday 13 - Saturday 17 March is a new production of the musical unanimously acclaimed by the critics as one of Stephen Sondheim's most powerful scores. This black comedy concerns the infamous homicidal career of Sweeney, the unjustly exiled barber who returns to 19th century London seeking revenge against the lecherous judge who coveted his young wife and falsely imprisoned him. Sophisticated, macabre, visceral and uncompromising, Sweeney Todd mixes intense drama with daring humour; audiences find themselves laughing one moment and gasping in surprise at the next. This is an amateur production.

CLOUDBUSTING - THE MUSIC OF KATE BUSH on Wednesday 21 March is a tribute that celebrates forty years since The Kick Inside announced to the world the genius of Kate Bush. Time and again since that remarkable debut, Kate has secured her place in music history with ground-breaking albums such as The Dreaming, Hounds of Love and Aerial. Her triumphant Before the Dawn shows at the Hammersmith Apollo sold out in minutes and changed perceptions of what a concert could be for ever. A FEAST OF GILBERT & SULLIVAN on Sunday 25 March is an afternoon of music and merriment with former stars of the D'Oyly Carte Opera Company in the UK's No 1 Gilbert and Sullivan concert. Join our soloists as they perform your favourite Gilbert and Sullivan songs in all their traditional glory backed by The British Philharmonic Orchestra, and entertain you with witty anecdotes of their time spent in the acclaimed D'Oyly Carte Opera Company. And of course, there will be the chance for you to join in and sing along too! Featuring selections from all of Gilbert and Sullivan Opera's from Three Little Maids to Major General.

CIRQUE DU HILARIOUS - MAGICAL MISCHIEF TOUR is back by popular demand on Sunday 1 April with the 'Superstars of Slapstick', Clive Webb and Danny Adams. PEPPA PIG'S ADVENTURE from Saturday 7 - Sunday 8 April sees Peppa Pig and friends back in the brand new live show! This magical show has been written especially for grown ups to enjoy with their children, so come and relive the delights of this most charming of tales complete with a feast of sing along songs, colourful animal characters and heart warming family fun. "Oooh Betty!" SOME MOTHERS DO 'AVE' EM starring Joe Pasquale, Sarah Earnshaw and Susie Blake from Tuesday 15 - Saturday 19 May. Everyone's favourite 1970s classic TV comedy, SOME MOTHERS DO 'AVE 'EM is back with Joe Pasquale starring as the loveable accident-prone Frank Spencer, Sarah Earnshaw as his wife Betty and Susie Blake as his disapproving Mother-in-Law, Mrs Fisher. The most successful sitcom of the decade gave us the hapless Frank and his long-suffering wife Betty with catch phrases galore and a never-ending list of disasters with roller-skating escapades and runaway chickens. THE HILARITY CHARITY GALA on Tuesday 3 July sees Wolverhampton's biggest line up of comedians returns for a fifth night of laugh out loud comedy at the Grand. Previous years' line ups have included some of the biggest names in British comedy, including Jon Richardson, Josh Widdicombe, Russell Howard, Greg Davies, Rob Beckett and Romesh Ranganathan. GRIMETHORPE COLLIERY BAND on Saturday 7 July at 7:30pm. Formed in 1917, during the First World War, Grimethorpe Colliery Band is a British institution. National and British Open Champions on numerous occasions, the band's contest successes remain legendary. These include 16 Brass In Concert Championship titles, 11 times Yorkshire Regional Champions, two English National Championship victories, four times British Open Champions and four times National Champion Brass Band of Great Britain. Grimethorpe's diverse noted concert performances include those at the FIFA World Cup, BAFTA Awards, BBC Proms, Eurovision and London 2012 Olympic Games Opening Ceremony, together with a wealth of national and international television and radio appearances and professional recordings. The band has been the recipient of two gold discs, as well as a BAFTA nomination for its contributions to the global hit movie Brassed Off.

Jane McDonald returns on Sunday 23 September, she is one of the nation's most loved entertainers came to our screens 20 years ago in the program The Cruise. Since then Jane has appeared as Grizabella in Cats and starred in many TV shows such as Loose Women, Star for a Night and Cruising with Jane McDonald. David Walliams' AWFUL AUNTIE arrives in Wolverhampton following the phenomenal success of previous stage show Gangsta Granny. From Wednesday 26 - Sunday 30 September the story follows Stella, who sets off to visit London with her parents, Lord and Lady Saxby, she has no idea her life is in danger! Waking up three months later, only her Aunt Alberta can tell Stella what has happened. But not everything Alberta tells her turns out to be true and Stella quickly discovers she's in for the fight of her life against her very own awful Auntie! From the award winning West End producers of Gangsta Granny comes the world premiere of David Walliams' amazing tale of frights, fights and friendship, featuring a very large owl, a very small ghost and a very awful Auntie!

South Staffs Musical Theatre Company present TOP HAT from Tuesday 9 - Saturday 13 October which brings the glamour of Hollywood's golden age and the glorious, tap-dancing magic of Fred Astaire's and Ginger Rogers' world-famous dance partnership to the stage. This 2011 musical based on the 1935 film of the same name, tells the story of Broadway sensation Jerry Travers who dances his way across Europe to win the heart of society girl Dale Tremont. An uplifting and entertaining romantic comedy celebrating 1930s song, style and romance, TOP HAT features fourteen songs by Irving Berlin. These include some of his greatest hits such as Cheek to Cheek, Puttin' on the Ritz and Let's Face the Music & Dance. The London production of TOP HAT won the 2013 Laurence Olivier Awards for Best New Musical, Best Costume Design and Best Choreography. This is an amateur production.
