Jodie Prenger to Host DreamArts Gala April 1st

DreamArts has announced that Jodie Prenger will be hosting their West End Musical Gala performance at The Playhouse Theatre on Sunday 1 April at 6.30pm.

DreamArts, the charity which creates opportunities for young people across inner London to learn through the creative arts, hosts an annual gala in which as a hundred children and young people from deprived areas of inner London can shine on the West End stage. The talented youngsters, aged 8-19, will be performing will be performing excerpts from Oliver!, Little Shop of Horrors, Calamity Jane and Blood Brothers.

Jodie, who found fame as the winner of Andrew Lloyd-Webber’s I’d Do Anything on BBC1, went on to star as ‘Nancy’ in his hit production of Oliver! at the Theatre Royal Drury Lane in 2008. She has subsequently appeared in the UK tour of Spamalot and this year is to star in One Man, Two Guv’nors at the Theatre Royal Haymarket.

Jodie said “I’m thrilled to be supporting DreamArts and to share a West End stage with such a talented group of kids!”

Steve Potts, the charity’s Chairman, and Commercial Director of Bill Kenwright Ltd, the UK’s leading independent theatre and film Production Company (The Wizard of Oz; Blood Brothers; Dreamboats, The Big Life) said “by offering young people this unique opportunity to perform, write, stage manage and produce in the West End, DreamArts help them realise their potential in a way they might otherwise not, and shine like the stars they are”.

The DreamArts West End Musical Gala is at The Playhouse Theatre, Northumberland Avenue, Charing Cross, WC2 on Sunday 1 April, 6.30pm. Tickets available from the box office from 5.00pm on the day. For advance tickets, email becki@dreamarts.org.uk. £6 adults / £4 concessions
