Jerry Springer will make his West End stage debut starring as ‘Billy Flynn' in the smash hit West End musical "CHICAGO" at the Cambridge Theatre on Monday June 1st. He will play the part for a six-week season, finishing on July 11th.

Originally from London, born in Highgate Tube Station during the Blitz in 1944, Jerry Springer is known throughout the world for his television show "The Jerry Springer Show" recorded in the city of Chicago. In addition to talk show host, he has been the mayor of Cincinnati, political pundit, lawyer, award-winning newscaster and even a country recording artist. From 2006 - 2008 he hosted two seasons of ratings' buster "America's Got Talent" and even won over America's heart with his ballroom dancing in "Dancing with Stars".

Today, because of the lasting popularity of his eponymous television show, Jerry Springer is a regular speaker at college campuses across the US including Havard, Yale and Georgetown and in 2000 he was invited to speak at the Oxford Union, where his appearance broke all attendance records. His autobiography "Ringmaster" was published in 1998

The award-winning musical "Jerry Springer: The Opera" (based on Jerry Springer and his television shows) played at the Cambridge Theatre just prior to "CHICAGO" opening there.

"CHICAGO" currently stars Aoife Mulholland as ‘Roxie Hart', Tiffany Graves as ‘Velma Kelly', Ian Kelsey as ‘Billy Flynn', Victor McGuire as ‘Amos Hart' and Brenda Edwards as ‘Mama Morton'.

"CHICAGO" opened at the Adelphi Theatre on 18 November 1997 to rave reviews and immediately became a sell-out hit. "CHICAGO" won the 1998 Laurence Olivier Award for 'Outstanding Musical Production' as well as the 1998 Critics Circle Drama Award for 'Best Musical'. "CHICAGO" transferred from the Adelphi Theatre to the Cambridge Theatre in April 2006. Currently playing in New York, Japan, Denmark and on tour in the US, with forthcoming productions in Australia, Korea, Holland and Spain, "CHICAGO" is produced in London by the Broadway producers Barry and Fran Weissler.

"CHICAGO", which celebrated its eleventh birthday at the end of 2008, is the longest running Broadway musical in the West End ever.

"CHICAGO", which is based on the play by Maurine Dallas Watkins, has a book by Fred Ebb and Bob Fosse, music by John Kander and lyrics by Fred Ebb.
