If That's All There Is- Created by Inspector Sands
Performed by Lucinka Eisler, Giulia Innocenti and Ben Lewis
Associate Director John Nicholson
12 - 16 May
Award-winning Inspector Sands present the follow-up to their international hit debut Hysteria. Refined through the Lyric's successful Lyric First scheme of theatre development, If That's All There Is is in its final stage of development and will play to London audiences for one week only before it premieres at the Traverse Theatre during the Edinburgh Fringe Festival 2009.
Inspired by Peggy Lee's version of the bitter-sweet existential song 'Is That All There Is?' by Leiber and Stoller; with bold visual style and physical humour If That's All There Is explores the longing to feel alive and the effort invested in seeking fulfillment.
Starring a therapist-cum-vigilante, an awkward teenager, her happy brother, a highly effective person and his thrill-seeking fiancée; If That's All There Is is an every-day thriller crying out for an explosive climax. Will it be a masked gunman on the rampage? A terrible motorcycle accident? The kidnap of a young executive? Or just an ordinary summer which threatens to be dangerously hot?
Inspector Sands first production Hysteria, was a dissection of ordinary lives in a modern age of anxiety. If That's All There Is continues their interest in 21st century blues, and is a mini-epic of longing, envy, disappointment and psychobabble that sends up our obsession with finding happiness.
