As part of a new series of musical concert performances at the Royal Festival Hall, HOW TO SUCCEED IN BUSINESS WITHOUT REALLY TRYING makes its London concert debut on May 19.
Set in 1960s New York, the musical chronicles the life of J. Pierrepont Finch, a young window cleaner who buys a book about rising up the corporate ladder. With libretto and score by Frank Loesser, this classic Broadway show brings pure entertainment to all.
Co-produced by concert promoters Senbla and Elliot Davis, who noted that the concert series, "will see us honing in on the timeless classics of musical theatre and bringing them to concert in London with the best orchestras, casts and creative teams we can assemble" the concert will feature the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra conducted by Mike Dixon.
Ollie Rosenblatt, Senbla managing director, said in a press release: "Bringing this show to the London concert stage is a great privilege. To start work on a production that has stamped itself firmly as one of the great shows in the history of musical theatre is hugely exciting, and this being one of many more musicals in concerts we will be producing we hope this will be a new form of entertainment for the public to get their teeth into".
Last seen on the West End in 1963-1964, HOW TO SUCCEED IN BUSINESS WITHOUT REALLY TRYING is a perfect opening to this new series of concert performances. The 1961 musical was revived on Broadway in 1995 at the Richard Rodgers Theatre (where the show originally opened) starring Matthew Broderick and Megan Mullaly, and then again in 2011 starring Daniel Radcliffe and John Larroquette at the Al Hirschfeld Theatre. Darren Criss succeeded Radcliffe on January 3, 2012 for a limited three-week engagement after which Nick Jonas took over the role of Finch until the show closed in May 2012.
Casting has yet to be announced for the concert performance. To purchase tickets please visit http://www.southbankcentre.co.uk/whatson/how-to-succeed-in-business-wit-90403.
