Gillian Anderson recently took on the iconic role of Blanche Dubois in a sold-out production of A STREETCAR NAMED DESIRE at London's Young Vic. The production was part of a NT Live worldwide broadcast last month. Now, according to The Guardian, the actress will revisit the character in a new short film she directed.
The film, soon to be available on the Young Vic website, will co-star Bruce Alexander, Suzanne Bertish and Rollo Skinner.
A STREETCAR NAMED DESIRE opened at the Young Vic on Monday, July 28 and ran through Friday, September 19, 2014. Anderson starred Blanche DuBois along with Ben Foster as Stanley and Vanessa Kirby as Stella in Tennessee Williams' timeless masterpiece.About the production:

Gillian Anderson (Blanche DuBois) began her career in theatre but achieved international recognition for her portrayal of Special Agent Dana Scully on The X-Files. During the show's nine seasons she won an Emmy, a Golden Globe and two SAG Awards. A Streetcar Named Desire at the Young Vic is Gillian's fourth appearance on the London stage. In 2009 she received an Olivier nomination for her performance as Nora in A Doll's House at the Donmar Warehouse. Prior to this she appeared inThe Sweetest Swing In Baseball at the Royal Court, and made her West End debut in Michael Weller's What The Night Is Forin 2002.
