Opening at Leicester Curve Theatre 29 June – 7 July, prior to a London Season at Sadler's Wells 12 July – 5 August and Norwich Theatre Royal 7 – 11 August, Matthew Bourne'S PLAY WITHOUT WORDS returns for its first revival. A critical and popular success when it premiered as part of The National Theatre's experimental TRANSFORMATIONS season in 2002, the show went on to win the 2003 Olivier Awards for Best Entertainment and Best Theatre Choreographer.

Chelsea, 1965. Behind the privileged façade of domestic social order lies a struggle for power, territory and sexual domination. In a suave Chelsea home an urbane master and his beautiful fiancée welcome their new manservant, Prentice. What follows will change their lives forever.

Matthew Bourne said today "I'm delighted that as part of our 25th birthday celebrations we are able to present one of our most unique and stylish works, Play Without Words, and I'm thrilled to say that two of our original cast members, Saranne Curtin and Richard Winsor, will be returning to their created roles. Play without words highlights new adventures performers as actors as well as dancers and I believe I have assembled a very fine cast of consummate performers for this first revival."

Madelaine Brennan comes direct from the current tour of Nutcracker! where she dances the role of 'Queen Candy'. For the company she has also recently danced the lead roles of 'Stepmother' in Cinderella and 'The Queen' in Swan Lake, and was in the original tour of Play Without Words in 2003. Daniel Collins made his New Adventures debut in Swan Lake, and has recently been seen as 'Fritz' in Nutcracker! and Cinderella. Saranne Curtin returns to New Adventures for the first time since 2007. She created leading roles in the original casts of Swan Lake, Cinderella, The Car Man and will here recreate her acclaimed role as 'Glenda' in Play Without Words.

Daisy May Kemp appears as the 'Hungarian Princess' in Swan Lake 3D, filmed at Sadler's Wells in 2011 for Sky Arts. She is also currently appearing in Nutcracker! on tour. Anabel Kutay has appeared in Swan Lake and Dorian Gray for New Adventures, as well as So You Think You Can Dance on BBC1. Adam Maskell has danced the roles of 'Knickerbocker Glory' in Nutcracker!, 'Doppelganger' in Dorian Gray and 'The Angel' in Cinderella, all for New Adventures. He has also appeared in Grease in the West End and Women Beware Women at The National Theatre.

Anjali Mehra has danced featured and lead roles in Swan Lake, Nutcracker! and the original tour of Play Without Words for New Adventures. She was also in the original cast of Bombay Dreams in the West End.

Liam Mower, who was London's first 'Billy Elliot' and winner of the Olivier Award for Best Actor in a Musical, is currently appearing as 'Cupid' in Nutcracker!, his first role since graduating from the Rambert School. Jonathan Ollivier has been a principal dancer with the Cape Town City Ballet, Northern Ballet Theatre and Alberta Ballet. For New Adventures he made his debut as 'The Swan' in Swan Lake, which he also danced in Matthew Bourne's Christmas for Channel 4. Alastair Postlethwaite is best known for his appearances in the popular Saturday night BBC TV series So You Think You Can Dance, in which he reached the semi-final. He has also recently appeared in Nutcracker! and Swan Lake.

Danny Reubens has danced in many New Adventures productions including Edward Scissorhands, Swan Lake and Lord of the Flies, and recently made his debut as Fritz in Nutcracker!.

Christopher Trenfield is currently dancing the title role in Nutcracker!, having made his debut with the company as 'The Swan' in Swan Lake. He also recently appeared in the UK Tour of West Side Story. Hannah Vassallo is also currently dancing the lead role of 'Clara' in Nutcracker!, having recently played 'Baby Houseman' in the West End production of Dirty Dancing. Other credits for New Adventures include The Car Man and the original cast of Edward Scissorhands.

Neil Westmoreland joined the company in 2003 when he danced the title role in Nutcracker!, and subsequently recreated the role of 'The Prince' for the 10th anniversary of the critically acclaimed Swan Lake. Neil returned to New Adventures to dance 'The Father' and 'The Pilot' in last year's hit revival of Cinderella and can currently be seen in Nutcracker! as 'Dr Dross'.

Richard Winsor is no stranger to Play Without Words, having created the role of 'Anthony' in the original cast at The National Theatre in 2002. Since joining New Adventures over ten years ago in The Car Man, Richard has gone on to develop a longstanding relationship with the company, dancing the lead roles in many productions including Spitfire, Nutcracker!, Edward Scissorhands, The Car Man, Swan Lake and Dorian Gray. Richard also recently played 'The Swan' in Swan Lake 3D. In 2010 Richard made his film debut in the lead role of Tomas in StreetDance 3D, and went on to guest star as 'Father Francis' in the Channel 4 soap Hollyoaks.

Designer Lez Brotherston and Lighting Designer Paule Constable repeat their Olivier nominated work, with choreography by Matthew Bourne and the Original Company. Terry Davies' acclaimed Jazz influenced score will be played live at all performances. PLAY WITHOUT WORDS was the production that launched New Adventures (after the name change from Adventures In Motion Pictures) in 2002.

The 2012 revival of PLAY WITHOUT WORDS is directed by Matthew Bourne and staged by Scott Ambler, with music by Terry Davies, inspired by Joseph Losey's film by special arrangement with StudioCanal, and based on 'The Servant' by Robin Maugham.LISTINGS
