Rose Theatre Kingston presents its Christmas show, Cinderella The Midnight Princess, which opens tonight, 30 November.
Charles Way’s enchanting adaptation is perfect family entertainment, with something for everyone: a fairy godmother, wicked step-sisters, a handsome prince, a glass slipper and a struggling court composer called Mozart. Cinderella is directed by Rachel Kavanaugh, former Artistic Director of Birmingham Rep, where her productions of Peter Pan and The Wizard of Oz were hugely popular. The cast features Faye Castelow as Cinderella, most recently on stage in Maureen Lipman’s production of Barefoot in the Park at the Yvonne Arnaud Theatre. Her Prince Sebastian is played by Jack Monaghan (War Horse, West End). The cast is completed by Jenny Bede (Misfits, E4) and Laura Prior (The Comedy of Errors, Shakespeare's Globe) as step-sisters Aloysia and Constanze. Claire Carrie (The Lady’s Paradise, National Theatre, By Jeeves, The Lyric) is Maria, Cinderella’s step-mother and Simon Coates (Translations, Arcadia and Macbeth) is Sigmund, Cinderella’s father. King Leopold will be played by Timothy Kightley (films include Shakespeare in Love, theatre includes several Regents Park Open Air Theatre productions), William Postlethwaite (Collaborators, The National Theatre; Fireface, Young Vic Theatre) plays Mozart. Katy Secombe, who last appeared at the Rose in its hugely acclaimed production of Hay fever, takes on the role of the Fairy Godmother.Videos
